Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Koncord Camper Model History
Circa 1990 Volkswagen phased out the rear engined T25 / T3 Transporter. The replacement for the T25 was the front engined T4 Transporter. Autohomes used the new T4 Transporter as the base vehicle for a new model called the Autohomes Koncord Camper released circa 1992. The interior had kitchen and cupboards along the side behind the drivers seat and the rear seat converted into a 3/4 width double bed. The Autohomes Koncord had a hightop roof which had a fold out bed inside (making it a four berth) and a tailgate ladder leading to a rear roof rack. At the same time Autohomes released a similar model called the Kompact. The Autohomes Kompact had a lower profile hightop roof and internally had a storage locker at the rear instead of the roof bed (making it a two berth). Materials Used: Upholstery - Caraline 540 - Colour R631 “Mascara” Mattress - Tokyo Curtains - Vienna Jade or Vienna Burgundy (dependent on graphics colour) Roof Lining Material - Foam back and plain Snow Wall board - Flax Grey Furniture Board - Sierra Light Oak Unit Work Tops - Resopal 3261Q
A) Fully adjustable swivelling captains cab seats upholstered in same material as rear seats. Seats had headrests and adjustable armrests.
B) and C) Overcab Front and Side Storage Lockers.
D) Two burner hob and grill with Electrolux RM 212F three way (gas / 12 volt / 240 volt operated) refrigerator (with electronic ignition system) below. Fridge has internal freezer compartment.
E) Sink and Drainer, F) Cutlery Draw and Storage below.
G) Wardrobe
H) Shelf storage cupboard with gas locker underneath (accessible through cupboard floor and tailgate). Gas locker holds two Camping Gaz 907 cylinders.
J) Removable storage / draw unit.
K) Sliding seat (that converts into double bed 1830 mm x 1168 mm) with toilet and storage below. Seat slides forward using rails in floor and can be used in three positions as well as being removed totally if required.
L) Removable table (stored behind rear seat back when not in use).
M) Jack Stowage Locker
Stainless steel ladder with roof rack.
Other features include: Full carpeting throughout. CEC 225 (Plug In Systems) 240 volt mains electric hook up with safety protection via RCCD circuit breaker and two MCB’s (in rear cupboard).
Internal 240 Volt mains outlet socket.
Zig CF8 electrical control panel (optional extra) with built in charger for leisure battery, water level gauge, individual fuses for each electrical appliance, master switch for 12 volt water pump and a 12 volt outlet socket.
78 litre (17 gallon) fresh water tank for pressurised water system with electrically pumped water tap via a self priming Shureflo water pump. Externally locking filler cap. Opening sliding window behind sink and cooker and in sliding door. Two twin fluorescent lights (2 x 8 Watt per fitting) and two (10 Watt) spot lights.
Rear seat restraint straps. Head rests on both cab seats. Fire extinguisher. Intermittent wipe and two speed wipers. Padded steering wheel. Two courtesy lights. Thermally lined curtains. Tableware for four located in the front roof side locker. Specially selected seat fabrics with fire retardant foam. Heated rear window with wash wipe. Wheel trims.
5) Options available at extra cost included: Carver Cascade 2GE water heater with mains hook up facility (located in kitchen cupboard). Thermostatically controlled Propex blown air heating system which is flued to exterior of vehicle. Heater is installed in unit under the rear seat at the side as can be seen in photo below where the vent can be seen.
Thermostat is located above the rear wardrobe.
28 Litre (6 gallon) wastewater tank. Zig CF8 control panel and second auxiliary equipment battery (see pic above).

Opening roof vent for fresh air.
Fold out roof bed (1830 mm x 1220 mm) / roof storage area.
Opening double glazed plastic roof side windows.
7) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Koncord Side Stripes and Logos The coachline stripes on the front, side and rear were blue and red.
The rear also had a red Autohomes badge.
The roof had stripes at the front, rear and side and a Koncord logo on the front as shown below:
